The penalty is from 1 to 4 years in prison

The Prosecution Office pressed charges against the Municipal Council candidate of Democratic Bulgaria, Toma Belev. This is obvious from a comment of the ecologist in Facebook, writes Trud. After a publication where Belev is mentioned with the suggestion that he will soon be accused, the conservationist comments: “In fact the charges were pressed today.” Trud reminds that the Central Electoral Commission permitted Toma Belev to be investigated because of his post in the social network: “The cheapest transport was provided to the Jews in freight cars – entirely free of charge.” Trud learned from police sources that Belev had not been found for more than a week by the law enforcement at the address where he is registered. Even the officials at the border crossing points were instructed to look for the ecologist. Belev’s mockery about the free transport of the Jews in freight cars to the camps of death during the Second World War is punishable by 1 to 4 years of imprisonment. Last year the leaders of Democratic Bulgaria Hristo Ivanov and Atanas Atanasov tried to lift the blame from him in front of the Jewish community at a meeting with the organization Shalom. Belev however did not have the dignity to apologize in person. He even needed several days under the pressure of Facebook users to come up with a half-hearted excuse and post it on the network. His apology was so insincere that it sounded even more offensive than his mockery of the Holocaust. Fakti.bg The Prosecution Office brought charges against Toma Belev
